About Upland

Located in the foothills of the highest section of the San Gabriel Mountains, Upland is a small suburb of Los Angeles, California. Set in an attractive setting near the metropolitan area and enjoying the benefits of a strong local economy, Upland is a continually growing city with a very diverse population. Considered part of the Inland Empire, the city offers quick access to much of Southern California.

Upland Arts and Culture

The community of Upland has a thriving arts and culture scene, celebrated by locals and visitors alike. The local Grove Theatre was built in 1947 and is still in operation today. You can attend a number of family-friendly shows at the theater, which also offers several theater and performing arts classes.

Upland is also home to a thriving skateboarding culture, considered an important Southern California hub for vertical skateboarding. It has earned the nickname "Badlands" in the skateboarding community, and the community's skate park owner was honored with a lifetime achievement award for his impact on the world of skateboarding.

Every spring, the city celebrates its roots in the citrus industry with the Upland Lemon Festival. Started in 1997, the festival features singing competitions, carnival rides and cooking contests.

You'll find a large number of health care providers, resort centers and transit agencies in Upland and the surrounding San Bernardino County. Upland's San Antonio Community Hospital is the city's largest employer, and Kaiser Permanente, Desert Valley Hospital and Loma Linda University Medical Center also provide thousands of jobs throughout the county.
