About Hamilton

Tucked into the southwestern corner of Ohio is the midsize city of Hamilton, part of the Cincinnati metropolitan area. Hamilton has been an industry-based city for many years, but recent efforts to revitalize the community through the arts have been very successful. The city is also home to three unique historical districts featuring numerous historical homes and buildings.

Living in Hamilton

Hamilton earned the nickname “City of Sculpture” in the year 2000, thanks to the city’s major efforts to infuse the local community with arts and culture. You can find public art and sculptures around nearly every corner in Hamilton, designed and crafted by a number of artists. The Pyramid Sculpture Park is a large collection of the city’s sculptures, spanning more than 300 acres and including both indoor and outdoor artwork.

Another unique art-focused initiative in Hamilton is the development of live-work artists’ housing in the downtown district. The mixed-use development is designed to provide loft-style living, as well as space for small businesses and cafes at ground level. At the Fitton Center for the Creative Arts, you can try your hand at a variety of artistic pursuits by enrolling in one of many art classes.

In addition to arts and culture, the city also nurtures a thriving collection of parks and recreational facilities. One of the most popular local parks is RiversEdge, located on the waterfront. There, you can enjoy scenic views, walking paths and a large amphitheater, which often hosts life performances. The park also hosts the Summer Concert Series, one of the city’s top community events.

Two public golf courses are another highlight, each one providing a full 18 hole-course and a clubhouse. At the Booker T. Washington Community Center, recreational amenities include sport courts, athletic fields, a playground, gathering rooms, a computer lab and an indoor swimming pool.

Hamilton Schools

Hamilton City School District is responsible for the majority of schools in the city. A few private schools (primarily faith-based) are also based in Hamilton.
