About Spring

Spring, Texas, is part of the Houston-The Woodlands-Sugar Land metropolitan area. Thanks to its convenient access to all the amenities of the Houston area, it's a prime choice for families who want to escape to a quieter suburb without giving up the conveniences of big-city life. This lifestyle, combined with a cost of living that is significantly lower than the national average, has resulted in a dramatic population growth in Spring over the past two decades.

The History of Spring

The city was originally constructed as a railroad town, and the depot that gave birth to much of the area's development is still in operation to the south. The area was first settled in the mid-1800s as a busy farming community centered on cotton and sugarcane. After several decades as a rough-and-tumble Western town, including a local bank robbery supposedly committed by the legendary Bonnie and Clyde, the town of Spring evolved into a quieter, family-based community.

The town hosts five major festivals each year, including Pet Fest, the Texas Wine & Art Festival and the Texas Crawfish & Music Festival. The town also has several green spaces and parks, including the Mercer Arboretum and Botanic Gardens, which offers a library, children's play spaces, a tea house and an endangered species garden that features a beaver pond.
